Portable Storage Devices

Portable storage device (PSD) is a small hard drive designed to hold any kind of digital data. This is slightly different from a portable media player, which stores and plays music and movies. It is similar in function to a thumb drive. However, capacities and size of both devices is somewhat different.

Storage size currently goes up to 4 Terabytes (eg 4096 Gigabytes) allowing for large storage capacity, which is useful for video and images.

When travelling, a portable storage device may be a useful alternative to backing up or purging memory cards if a computer is unavailable for downloading.

Microsoft Office 2016 - Visio (Part 1)

This month we take look at three tips and tricks that you can use with Visio.

Tip 1 - Zooming

Zooming In - Hold down the [Ctrl] and [Shift] keys together. The mouse pointer changes to a magnifying glass.

Zooming Out - Hold down the [Ctrl] and [Shift] keys and right click on the mouse button. The mouse pointer changes to a magnifying glass

Tip 2 - Using the text block tool

A text block is an invisible container within a shape that holds and fixes the text in place. It can be manipulated separately from the shape itself by using the text block tool.

Tip 3 - Copying shapes using drag and drop

Shapes can be copied in Visio in the standard way using copy and paste. However, a more beneficial way to copy more than one shape and have them equally spaced is to use the “drag and copy” method.

Hold down the [Ctrl] key and move the mouse over the shape. Drag the shape(s) to where the next copy is required. Let go of the mouse and then the [Ctrl] key. A copy of the shape(s) will appear. Press the Function Key [F4] to repeat again. A new shape(s) will appear with equal spacing.
